Career change just ahead depicting a new choice in job CareerI’m a big fan of uncovering mental blocks when it comes to losing weight.  In fact, it’s something I talk and teach about often for I’m always looking for ways to parallel my own understanding on such a broad and diverse topic that gets misinterpreted, in my opinion, over and over again.

So I got to thinking once again, and it occurred to me that how people look at work is in a non-negotiable fashion.  No if’s, and’s, or but’s, without question, it has to happen.

So what if you looked at weight loss in the same way?  Not one of those I’ll-do-it-if-I-feel-like-it sort of things, or maybe-someday-it-will-happen afterthoughts, but rather something you have to get done every day until you do.

Because without it, you could lose everything.

Now, in all reality, it may not affect your monetary expense account, but it could certainly – and ultimately will – affect your health expense account.  Which makes me question, why would we see it any other way, if not even more important than punching a time clock day in and day out?  It is your health after all.

Of course there’s the belief that exercise sucks, or calorie counting equals deprivation, and while I don’t advocate doing anything that you don’t want to do, such as extreme exercise which only adds more stress on top of stress, a little goes a long way (aside from the fact I don’t advocate a calorie-counting approach anyways).

I know of countless examples of people who never counted a bite who still lost weight, from a colleague who was couch-bound after a car wreck and still dropped 20 lbs without stepping foot in a gym, to people who stop emotional eating, to even myself, when I eventually just stopped thinking about it so much and started living life more and found ways to express myself in a healthy way.

As is evident, it all comes down to mindset.  How you feel, think and believe when it comes to losing weight and the food you eat effects everything.  Tweet: More so than anything else, shifting your mindset around your weight is the top driver in weight loss.

Now don’t get me wrong.  I’m not saying that all you have to do is meditate 20 minutes a day, and you’ll shed all the weight you want.  In some cases, maybe, but it’s more likely action is required in some way, even if it’s slight.  Stopping binge eating, only eating until you’re full, eating according to the natural rhythm of life are all ways you can begin to approach weight loss in a new way, one that doesn’t feel confining or make you want to avoid it altogether.

Yet one that is required of you too.  Something that you do without thinking about it, or questioning it, or wouldn’t dare not do (like working), will produce a desired effect, or result.  It has to.  It goes against energetic law otherwise, and since everything is energy, what you put into it you will get out of it.

Think of it this way.  If you didn’t work, you wouldn’t make money, right?  The action of working is what produces the desired effect, which is income.  If you thought instead that working was optional, maybe you’d do it one day and not the next, or decided to just not work at all, what would happen to your finances as a result?

Chances are, there wouldn’t be any, unless you already have money, and you know how to make money make money for you.

For most people, work has to happen in order to have the money to have the worldly possessions we desire, such as a house, a car, food, or anything else.  And we would never think to merely dismiss working if we didn’t feel like it.

What if you applied that same mindset to losing weight?  Making it non-optional, not just an afterthought, but a to-do on your to-do list that you had to accomplish until it was done?

Changing the way you think when it comes to weight loss is critical to achieving success, whether it’s conscious or subconscious.  Either way, whenever you have lost weight, or done anything else you wanted to do and reached your goal, you had to change your beliefs about it in order for it to happen.

You just didn’t necessarily realize you did when you did it.

Weight loss is not just a science as it’s cracked up to be.  Far from it in fact, but one thing we can all agree on is it takes a certain mindset to make it happen, and without it, your results will prove to be the same time after time, which is why so many women get stuck in the same place, get frustrated and give up.

If you’ve never addressed the way you think when it comes to weight loss, try it next time you’re about to diet again.  Guaranteed – no matter what you do – you’ll experience a far deeper level of transformation, and permanency.
