get more energyIf there’s one thing people complain about the most, it’s that they have no energy, but what’s worse is, they don’t know what to do about it!

Most times people get by on artificial substances like caffeine and sugar, which only makes things worse, makes them more tired and causes weight gain.  It makes sense that when you’re tired all the time, you reach for the first thing that will give you energy.  It’s how you’re designed by nature, and why you crave what you crave.

But in the long run, it sets you up for degenerative diseases, sleeplessness, overeating, and more, which can all be prevented instead.

Everyone wants a quick fix when it comes to getting more energy.  Without it, you can’t get through the day or even get out of bed in the morning.  But what most people miss is that energy deficiencies aren’t always a matter of getting more energy, but rather figuring out why you have no energy in the first place.

Our world is on autopilot, going through the motions, day in and day out.  If someone is too tired, people think they’re weak or not pulling their weight.  If you say no to someone, you’re selfish.  If you need a nap, you’re lazy.

None of that is necessarily true when you consider the often times ungodly demands work and family life tends to place on you and the expectations you're expected to accomplish in a day.  It’s just not realistic to work 60 hours or more a week and still get dinner on the table in time to feed your kids, help them do their homework, go to PTA meetings or work out.

Yet you do, somehow someway, and when you’re too tired, you think more energy is the answer.

Sure, more energy would help, and there are plenty of drugless, natural ways to get it that work, but first and foremost, if nothing changes otherwise, they’re temporary solutions at best.

It may not seem easy to turn down a friend’s request, or tell your boss you can’t stay late, because both your job and friendship are on the line.  But are those relationships worth it anyways if that’s the case?

It could be that a change in circumstances is exactly what you need in order to course correct your life so that it sets you up for success when it comes to your health, your body and having enough energy.  You can only do so much, and trying to do more adversely effects every aspect of your life, including relationships, work, your social life and everything else.

All that stress is the cause of no energy to begin with, and besides, if your friend can’t take it when you have to say no, how great of a friend is she anyways?

For a fresh perspective on where all your energy goes, take stock of your day from the minute you wake up to the minute your head hits the pillow by writing down everything you do in between and figure out what you can cut and what you really want to keep.

Even just eliminating one small daily task will go a long way toward getting your energy back.

And one more thing.  Stop being a people-pleaser!  Trying to make everyone else happy is a surefire way to wind up with no energy because it’s virtually impossible.  Stick to what you know instead – what makes you happy!

It’s much easier and much more guaranteed in the end.
