easily get through menopauseYou’ve probably heard them all.

Chronic fatigue, irritability, abdominal fat, thinning hair, sleep irregularities, low libido, and the biggie, hot flashes!  All symptoms typically associated with menopause.  But what you probably don’t hear is that all of them are totally unavoidable, without medication or HRT no less!

How so?  I know this may seem like Greek to you, but it’s really quite simple.  I actually started worrying about how I would handle menopause back in my mid-30’s!  I’d heard my whole life how uncomfortable it was and how miserable it made you and I knew definitely wanted to avoid how awful it was made out to be.

But when my mom went through menopause with no side effects, and I later got into the field of natural health, I started to probe further as to why that could be, because I most certainly wanted that to be me too.  And I eventually (thankfully) figured it out.

It’s all due to a commonly overlooked and often ignored condition known as adrenal fatigue.

Sometimes referred to as “the 21st century stress syndrome,” a phrase coined by author James L. Wilson, [bctt tweet=”adrenal fatigue is the baseline for every hormonal imbalance, sugar craving, sleepless night”], anxious feeling, ounce of fat, or any other mysterious symptom you’re dealing with that you want to blame on menopause instead of why it’s actually happening.

Note: This is what your doctor won’t tell you because one, they simply don’t understand it all that well, and secondly, Big Pharma makes no money off of you if they do!

I know this is quite contrary to what you’ve been led to believe, but then again, most things are, and this is no different.  Here’s why:  Your body can handle periods of stress for a long time, but eventually it will wear out.  Hence the term adrenal fatigue

The endocrine system, which is responsible for regulating the hormones that regulate both your adrenals (adrenaline and cortisol) and your ovaries (progesterone and estrogen), shifts the burden for the drop in sex hormones as you age to your adrenal glands.

Your adrenal glands therefore are now responsible for keeping both sets of hormones balanced.  But what happens if your adrenals are shot?  You guessed it.  The dreaded menopausal symptoms!

If your adrenal glands are functioning properly though, believe it or not, you won’t even notice a difference except for the fact you’ll stop menstruating.  Think of it this way.  Not all countries have access to the medical care we do in the US or any other developed nation.  So how do those women handle it?  Exactly as I described!

It’s not that they don’t have stress, which drives adrenal fatigue, but they also aren’t brainwashed into thinking menopause is a disease but rather, just a normal part of aging that all women endure.  And considering many of them aren’t subjected to adulterated food and the overuse of prescription medications either, they’re just naturally healthier to begin with.

Which gives them a huge advantage!

But in truth, it can be the same for you.  To nourish healthy adrenals and prevent the nasty side effects that often accompany menopause for millions of women, follow these steps:

1. Eliminate or effectively handle stress.

2. Get adequate sleep. You must rest if you are going to help your adrenals get stronger. That means going to bed every night by 10 p.m. Make this a priority and stick with it. Your adrenals need their beauty sleep!

3. Eliminate sugar and processed carbs. Sugar and simple carbs (junk!) put stress on the adrenals.  Adrenal glands help to regulate blood sugar levels.

4. Eat clean animal protein foods, organic vegetables, fruits, nuts, legumes, beans and grains.  Adrenals thrive on protein!

5. Quit the coffee habit and drink plenty of fresh filtered water every day.  Caffeine is the cousin of nicotine as they are chemically similar and highly addictive.

6. Take licorice root and Vitamin C supplements.  People in adrenal fatigue are low in Vitamin C because adrenals use Vitamin C to make cortisol.

7. Add a good B complex.  B’s are the stress hormones and get burned up during periods of high stress.

I can’t stress enough how important it is to focus on adrenal health, especially as you age.  As is the case here, they not only support overall health but particularly as you approach menopause which sends so many women into total despair for years.  I made it a mission of mine to figure it all out before it happened to me, and now, at 49, you’d never guess I was even close to menopause.  I don’t look it, I don’t act like it, and I certainly don’t feel like it!

In all my years in practice, I’m convinced that a natural, holistic approach with an emphasis on healthy adrenal function is the only way to get through menopause without any side effects and spare yourself the agony of hot flashes, weight gain and chronic fatigue that so many suffer from, and just may save your marriage too.

If you do, you’ll see the difference for yourself ASAP!
