These small reminders could make all the difference between saving your waistline and your budget this season so you don't overindulge either way.

So here goes:

1. When you're checking in to your room, if they give you a key to the mini bar, say no thanks! If you have no immediate access to it, even if you're desperate or it's late at night, the chances you'll call the front desk to get one are pretty slim. Therefore, crisis averted.

2. Bring your own stash of goodies. This goes without saying throughout all your travels, especially if you have food allergies, but in particular in hotel rooms. I never go anywhere, from the car to the plane to my room, without my own personal provisions. Not only does it ensure that I have food that I know work for my diet, but it's much more economical too!

Which brings me to point #3…

3. Look at the price list! Have you ever checked out how much they charge for a Snickers or M&M's? Or my favorite snack – nuts! Try up to $13.50 or more per container. The price alone is enough to help you get over your mini bar temptation in a jiffy.

Creating a more cozy, home-away-from-home environment right in your hotel room complete with foods you're familiar with, plus safeguarding yourself from unncessary expenses, will make your holiday travels much more pleasant and memorable this year.

Share your feedback on my Facebook page!

~ Angela

With the holidays just around the corner, the chances you'll be traveling tend to go up, so I figured I'd share my top 3 surefire tips to avoiding the mini bar in your hotel room!
