{"id":11741,"date":"2016-02-08T15:51:22","date_gmt":"2016-02-08T20:51:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/angelaminelli.com\/blog\/?p=11741"},"modified":"2022-08-25T22:24:23","modified_gmt":"2022-08-26T03:24:23","slug":"6-overlooked-reasons-why-youre-overweight","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/angelaminelli.com\/blog\/6-overlooked-reasons-why-youre-overweight\/","title":{"rendered":"6 Overlooked Reasons Why You\u2019re Overweight"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n\t<img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"surprised\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-11744\" height=\"150\" src=\"http:\/\/angelaminelli.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/surprised-150x150.png\" width=\"150\" \/>Being overweight can be confusing, especially if you&rsquo;re someone who works out and eats right.&nbsp; Believe it or not, <strong>even if you&rsquo;re doing everything<\/strong> you think you&rsquo;re supposed to be doing, you might not be doing enough, which will cause weight to creep up or not budge.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tIf you&rsquo;re trying to reach a certain goal, you have to look at all the angles to getting there, and there are some you might be overlooking.&nbsp; Here are the top six I&rsquo;ve come up with, which may explain why you&rsquo;re still overweight:\n<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>\n\t\t<span style=\"font-size:16px;\"><strong>Resolving to never eat (x,y,z).&nbsp;<\/strong><\/span> [bctt tweet=&#8221;Deprivation is the enemy. It literally sets you up to fail.&#8221;] Anything you want badly enough, <strong>you&rsquo;ll obsess about,<\/strong> so it&rsquo;s better to just get it out of your system.&nbsp; The key here is not overindulging.&nbsp; A little goes a long way when it comes to satisfying a craving.&nbsp; Besides, you can&rsquo;t stop chocolate from being delicious!&nbsp;&nbsp; Have a square of dark a day, or if ice cream is more your thing, choose a dairy-free version, preferably one that is portion-controlled like a frozen fruit bar instead. &nbsp;&nbsp;<br \/>\n\t\t&nbsp;\n\t<\/li>\n<li>\n\t\t<strong><span style=\"font-size:16px;\">Eating too little.<\/span><\/strong>&nbsp; It sounds contrary, but most people trying to lose weight cut back on calories, and sometimes go too far.&nbsp; The concept of deprivation applies here too.&nbsp; If you think &ldquo;being good&rdquo; all day works, it will catch up with you, and you&rsquo;ll be ravenous by dinnertime &#8211; and you just might <em>over<\/em>eat!&nbsp;&nbsp; Instead, eat a filling breakfast, and a filling lunch, which will give you sustainable all-day energy plus prevent overeating.<br \/>\n\t\t&nbsp;\n\t<\/li>\n<li>\n\t\t<span style=\"font-size:16px;\"><strong>Eating too much &ldquo;healthy&rdquo; food.<\/strong><\/span>&nbsp; Even though it&rsquo;s gluten-free, dairy-free, organic, naturally sweetened, or whatever else the label says, turn it over anyways!&nbsp; You always want as few ingredients as possible, and ones you can easily pronounce, but when it comes to nutritional content, 4 grams of sugar or less per serving and unsaturated fats are best.&nbsp; Tip: Avoid too many fried foods!&nbsp; A whole bag of chips is still a whole bag of chips, even if they&rsquo;re fried in olive oil.<br \/>\n\t\t&nbsp;\n\t<\/li>\n<li>\n\t\t<span style=\"font-size:16px;\"><strong>Multitasking.<\/strong><\/span>&nbsp; When you&rsquo;re <strong>not paying attention<\/strong> to how much you&rsquo;re eating, you&rsquo;re overeating!&nbsp; Which means more weight.&nbsp; Take a break, breathe, be thankful, and focus on your food.&nbsp; When you do, the taste, texture and aroma come alive, making you feel fuller longer!<br \/>\n\t\t&nbsp;\n\t<\/li>\n<li>\n\t\t<span style=\"font-size:16px;\"><strong>Speaking of breathing, breathe.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/span> If you&rsquo;re too stressed out, anything you eat will be a wash.&nbsp; Your mind has to register that you just ate, otherwise you&rsquo;ll be hungry again soon after.&nbsp; Sit with your feet on the floor, back against the chair, and take three deep breaths.&nbsp; This simple step sends a signal to your brain that the coast is clear, there&rsquo;s no danger, and allows your body to digest better, which helps with weight loss.<br \/>\n\t\t&nbsp;\n\t<\/li>\n<li>\n\t\t<span style=\"font-size:16px;\"><strong>Adrenal exhaustion.<\/strong><\/span>&nbsp; Nothing drives weight more than stress, and if you&rsquo;re in adrenal exhaustion, good luck getting the weight off until you fix it first.&nbsp; Adrenals rely on healthy hormone function, however too much stress deregulates how well your hormones uptake thereby interfering with how well your <strong>thyroid and adrenals<\/strong> function, causing sugar cravings, more weight and even depression.&nbsp; If you do nothing else, see a qualified natural health professional who can help heal your adrenals.\n\t<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>\n\tIf you&rsquo;re actively attempting to lose weight, don&rsquo;t disregard what&rsquo;s right in front of you that might be making it impossible.&nbsp; You&rsquo;ll only <strong>wind up frustrated<\/strong> and likely give up.&nbsp; Incorporating these six steps though will make it a lot easier, and propel you out of your rut and on your way to losing all the weight you want!\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tFor more free help, check out my free 7-video eCourse on how to stop emotional eating!
